I saw a car at the supermarket, a taurus, but the window surrounds looked like a sho. the body WAS NOT a sho though. it looked like a GL or something , like someone did a half-baked job of putting SHO windows on a GL body. I get closer and look through the windows; it looks like a GL but it has a 5 SPEED! what is going on? this world is weird!
It llooked like an original one like a 86-90 taurus GL sedan with black windows not chrome ones. but no sho grille. i checked the grill out; it was black, enven though the body was cream yellow and the grill had four horizontal slats running across it. i thought taurus grills were with the blue oval in the middle of it!
Is it a one-off GL taurus some dude spent money on to swap the AXOD out for a Sho 5 speed? it could havethe dohc engine in it too!

Way back in the mid-eighties there was a low option model called the MT-5. Obviously, manual transmission - 5speed. I forget what motor it came with.
Turn your 3.0 vulcan car into a 5speed with pedals and shifter from a sho, and a tranny from an old 3.0 probe.

the MT5 taurus came with a 2.5L HSC 4 cylinder which was basically a slightly bored out tempo motor. It was slow as sin and the manual trans was to slightly make up for that, unfortunately they also sold automatic 4 cyl tauri from '86-'89 and they were ridiculously slow (my friend's topped out at 86).
No Non-SHO 6 cylinder taurus was ever offered with a manual trans.
