Yes, my baby looks to have popped a fuel pump on me.

I have had a bad fuel tank for little over a year now and was going to replace it along wtih a new sending unit and a new fuel pump and fuel filter when it decided to make me replace it or else.

I parked the truck and went into a store and came out and turned the key to the on position, waited for 2 seconds for it to prime and then started the engine and it did a quick pop like it was just starting and then decided to just sit there and turn over without firing at all.

Turn the key off, wait 10 seconds, turn the key to the on position and low and behold, the fuel pump was no longer priming the system anymore. You couldn't hear the pump at all. All that could be heard was the fuel pump relay clicking in the glove compartment but that's it.

It is in the shop now getting the tank and everything replaced seeing I do not have the tools or the ability to be swapping fuel pumps in the parking lot here.

After all is said and done I will be looking at a bill for about US$650 for a new oiled and rustproofed tank, a new sending unit and a brand new Fram fuel filter and a AC Delco Delphi fuel pump installed with all the usual fuel line repairs if they come about.

When my baby goes, she goes big. It was two years ago that a bum starter took 5 teeth off of the flywheel on me.

God help me......

Eh, cheer up. It is not like your baby's going to be neglected and left to rust in pieces. That's a big chunk of pocket change, but it would be worth it to have your wheels back. Good luck man!

My fuel pump quit on me about a month ago. It was a real let down for me too, since I've only had my blazer two months. After having it for only a month and the fuel pump quitting on me, that made me really wonder about what kind of vehicle I purchased.

After buying a new pump and filter I was out about $420. That really hurt the old bank book, and it's still hurting a little from that. I couldn't imagine having to pay extra to get a garage to do it for me, I would have probably sold it if I had done that.

It's doing good for now though, don't know how long it will last though. It sure doesn't seem like it will be as reliable as my last car.

Yeah BLT, after the terrible reports about Fram Oil Filters, you are going to put a Fram Fuel filter on there? I put a Deutsch on mine!

It is back together and working well.

As to the Fram issue, I have no problem with Fram fuel filters but I do have a problem with their oil filters.

I will just change it sooner. I talked to the mechanic about it and he said that he had no problem with the fuel filters but he did understand my concern with the oil filters.

Hey BlazerLT, same thing happened to me today except it happened at home. I can hear the relay clicking from the glove compartment vacinity, but I don't hear the fuel pump humming. This is our '95 Blazer (yours is a '95 too I believe).

I think this is beyond my ability at this point (dropping the tank and all). We'll be towing the Blazer to a mechanic on Monday.

Yip, just happened to me that way too.

Just replaced the fuel filter and 2 days later, POP.

No more humming coming from the fuel pump when the key is at on and not started.

BTW, plan on having the sending unit replaced seeing it will rot out fast on our 1995's.

Have you tank rustproofed while it is down so it will be protected from rust.

This is the repair I'm dreading. I know it's coming someday probably soon, and it feels like the Sword of Damacles over my head. Stranded somewhere, cold out, expensive ass part, huge pain in the ass to fix... I guess It's best to not dwell on it...

I put a new tank, sending unit, filter, fuel pump, strainer, and rust proofing on a 91 for $260 in parts. No labor did myself.

The 1995 tank is very hard to find and is more expensive along with the sending unit.

They only starting making an aftermarket tank this year for it.

Thank god.

I see, I know the pump is double on my 93 with that w motor and the sending unit was a extra 25 also for the 93. gl
