Remove 2.2 crank while in car??

is it possible to remove the crank from a 91 2.2 while the engine is still in the car?? do i gotta remove transaxle BS?? its a manual. if so are their any shortcuts or do i just start tearing everything apart?? i got everything taken apart but the only thing holding me back looks like the flywheel. any help would be appreciated

You 2 eh. My 91 2.2 engine siesed on me the other day, but then again i was driving with a busted connecting rod/crankshaft.
Now im left having to put in a used engine this weekend:(
As for your situation im not sure, but i think you can pull out the crank while still in there.

Yes. Remove the flywheel, and yank that puppy.

yes?? yes to what? it can be removed without the transmission coming off or the trans does have to come off?? i am pretty sure the only way to get the flywheel off is to remove the trans and undo a bolt??

Yes it will come out. I will see if I can scan you some photos/mechanical drawings of how it is done. As I recall you can get flywheel seperated from the torque converter without removing the tranny. You can then get a wrench in there to get the flywheel off.
