Spoon Ecu Chip??

My mechanic bought a few chipped ecu's and was offering me one for 250 and my current ecu. He says the chipped ecu will give me an extra 20 hp.. Is the ecu with spoon chip worth 250$ Will it provide 20 hp? Will I gain any torque?? Any advice would be appreciated

By the way, I currently have a b16a motor with b16a, ecu.

JUSt from my knowledge, as far as I know, chips are basically worthless. Think about it, you could spend that $250 on something else, that would boost the motors horsepower overtime, depending on other upgrades.

they mean can get up to 20 hp depending on how much money you put into your motor...basic cold air intake exhaust, header,,and all msd ignition...then thats not even gonna make a dent in the 20 hp they say your gonna get...all comes down to the internals on the head and block

have you all seen that diesel truck commercial on tv? they said they put a chip in there and then the diesel kept spinnin out like crazy...do you believe this? ecu can be tuned fairly well for some gains, but if your motor is only capable of so many hp, the chip shouldnt make too much diff. Now if you have a turbo, etc, and you wanted to tune the air/fuel etc, performance chip might help more than on a stock system

IT will NOT give you "20hp." Americanfeagle kinda got the idea right but if you were goin to spend all that money on internals then i'd suggest to get a stand alone management system. (hondata and aem ems) for full potential tuning. Chip ecu's aren't bad for the price. I would only get it if i have basic bolt ons, and upgraded cams, 64 mm type r throttle body. You can see about 15 hp with proper tuning.
