My nephew has a 1995 Jetta, I am trying to help him with this car,
While in park or at idle, the engine would rock bad, while the car was running (moving) 30 rpm and above it would smooth out. Had the motor mounts replace with new ones and replaced a rear engine seal due to the oil leak. The car was ok for about 3 months, now the engine is still rocking and when he puts the car in reverse, the car dies? (Automatic Tranny) Had a someone independent check the car, check the transmission? had metal in the pan, thought they all did, requested he clean the filter and check vac. lines. car still not running right. Help Please.

My dad had this problem, he changed the spark plugs and now it runs alright. Hope this helps :)
