messed up vin and story

ok my story about my first beetle and car:
i got it for free! its a sweet beetle dune buggy with fiberglass body (yellow) and it runs and sounds great and very loud thanks to after market pipes that came with it.

ok the VIN issue

i tried looking the vin up on the net but it says i need 14 characters. the vin is pop rivited on the top of the dash.

any way heres the vin: 4574458

weird no, yes? any way i have no info like year type or any thing

I assume that isnt a factory VIN plate as they did with the later models up at the windshield. That number goes to a 1963 model. The Factory VIN plate should be under the hood on the inner fenderwell & under the rear seat by the tunnel access cover.
