Old Style Cats

just wondering, whats the average life on those old style catalytic converters that the use to use, you know the one that looks 4x bigger than a regular one. i have a 87 fiero 2m4 ad it still has it, and i have to go for emissions soon, the car passed the emissions 5 years ago, it has been sitting ever since. wondering if i will ahve any trouble passing

Most converters will live at least 80,000 miles (If I'm right, there is now a law that manufacturers MUST warranty them for 80,000 on all new vehicles) and I've seen some pull off 150k miles, but that's as much as you're gonna get. If you live in an area where roads are salted in the winter, chances are it's shot.
