I have a 1986 Sommerset, bought used, as a work car. It has PW, PD, PL, PS, AC. Yesterday i noticed that the heater/outside air blowers were not working. my 23 amp fuse was blown and all i had on hand was a 20 amp replacement. Now when i start it, it will start but not turn over. As I am married with children any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Futurecomm

ok-i got new fuses today and replaced the 20 amp with the correct 25 amp. unfortunately i still get it started but it won't turn over at all. please help a computer tech, who can build, repair, or troubleshoot a computer in his sleep, but not so well with cars.

PS: i can change my own oil, brake pads, fill fluids, radiator hoses, etc. but that's about it:(

Thanks,

i double checked them last, for that reason, and to ensure i didn't leave any pulled out some [not socketed correctly] and all look good now.

Thanks for the reply,

i looked at the wiring diagram. the only thing that i see that may be related is the HI on the blower. when you select HI, the blower does not pull power from the 25 amp fuse, it needs a little more juice, so it pulls power straght from a fusiable link. the fusiable link most likey has a few other circuits on it too(what they are, i don't know) see if the blower works on high, if it doesn't, the fusiable link may need replaced.

Ditto the fusable link.

You can get it started but it won't turn over????????? Some clear info may help us narrow down the issue. Good Luck.

starting, as in: the battery works, the alternator works, and when i turn the ignition, the only thing that doesn't happen is the engine turning over. it spins up but it won't completely start up.

Yes-the fan blows on high.

Update from this weekend: I had a friend come that is more knowledgable about cars than I am to help out. After a whole day and several trips to autozone, we have determined the following: We replaced the fuel filter and determine that gas is flowing both ways [disconnected one side and turned the car over for just a second and tried the otherside too] once the car is turned over. we also proved that by taken off, seperately, both lines into the carburator and tunring the car over again and both times fuel would flow. the car will also run if he slowy poured fuel straight into the carb but once he stopped pouring it would quickly stop running. there is a piece that sits on top of the carb, that the fuel lines [2] screw into and controls the fuel into the actualy carb but the fuel flow is stopping somewhere inside of it, or it could be electracal [checked ALL fuses, and they are good]. i took it apart and there is a double rubber piece gasket and that was in good condition. after checking that i used carb/choke cleaner on that top piece and the carb to clean everything but it will not turn over. according to autozone i can replace the top piece for $220 and/or replace the gasket kit for $24. does anyone know about this piece that bolts on top of the carb and any troubleshooting tips or do i just have to shell out the $220?

Thanks for any/and all help,
Futurecomm
