You have done the obvious repairs. Hmmmm....
1. Are you sure its overheating? Sometimes a blown head gasket or cracked head can mimic an overheating problem.

2. Was the engine sitting a long time with no coolant? I had a mouse nest in the cooling system of a tractor plug the water jacket and overheat the engine.

3. Are you using 50/50 water and coolant and a good pressure cap?

4. Is the cooling fan missing blades or missing the fan shroud?

thanks for the feedback - im still dealing with the problem.
I did put in a thermostat. had was rebuilt and Head gasket is new and has been checked. did the check for gas in coolant.
the car was sitting for a while, had all that nasty cooalnt rust in it.
I think ive determined that there is blockage in the block.

strange thing is though - if i take it on the freeway - it overheats in about 15 mins. even with a crisp in 40 degree weather.

it drives better on the city streets - its very random. and when it does over heat - ( the hoses are plump ) i let it sit for literally 3 -4 mins, realease some of the pressure from the radiator lock cap and its fine for awhile ( sometimes) and the hoses are back to normal.

I think it blockage in the block- maybe?
