Korn just recently did a cover of this and was on their greatest hits album, really really really good song not quite as good as the original but different and still awesome.

wtf? I think they have only covered like 3 songs any way?
Ive heard that song and love it, though i wont be buying the greatest hits CD.
Korn Kicks ass, especially the older stuff on the first 3 CDs, their newer stuff is starting to get a bit whiny but i still Like it.

I like their version of "One" and "Another Brick In The Wall". I think "Word Up" is a POS though.

(sigh) IMO, Korn jumped the shark in like 1998. Why didn't Korn disband instead of Rage? Uhh, God hates me. :uhoh:

It blows so bad. Their distortion sounds like shit, and they completely ruined the essence of the song. Even the solo doesn't sound right. But I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, so of course I'm going to hate it.

Korn fucked it up. They suck anyway, so why should anyone have expected them to do it justice?

korn is amazing, some say their older stuff is better, i say they have aged like a gibson les paul, gets better with age. i like the cover, and im a huge pink floyd fan. why would that automatically make you say it sucks if you were a fan of the original. i also agree it sucks so fucking much that rage is gone, but how about instead of wishing korn to be done limp bizkit instead? i hear we borland is back and they are off to make a new cd

Why oh Why does it all have to be seven string and down tuned? Do it for color or a diffrent tone..... Why must you do it as a signature sound?
Didn't care for the cover for the above mentioned reasons.

Didn't like it, I love Floyd but I've never liked a remake except for a select few.

There is a fine line between covering a song, and doing a "remake". There is a fine line between doing the right song, and trying to do the right song.
There are some songs better left untouched.
Korn did not, do the right song.

Korn did a great cover of "One" live, for the Metallica Tribute.. but they are by NO means a versatile enough band, nor do they possess nearly enough talent to even try and pull off a Pink Floyd cover. They hurt our ears enough with werd-up..
It's time to give up trying new shit korn, go back to your formulaic "my daddy beats me" ballads.

My philosophy is, you can't make it better than the original band did, so don't mess with it in the first place.

Any cover of any Bob Dylan song is going to be better than the original, that is just the way it is. Bob Dylan is an incredible songwriter and a musical genius, but seriously one of the worst singers ever. I rarely hear Dylan covers that I don't like more than the original.

the original tends to be better, it was a rareity with hendrix. bob dylan is a damn good musician, just not so much singer.

what does a persons looks have to do with how they play music?

Nothing at all. We were just talking about Bob Dylan, and when I think Bob Dylan, after I think "good music", I think "ugly fucker".

The only good remakes I've ever heard was Tool's 'No Quarter' originally on Led Zeplins Houses of the Holy. And Cradle of Filth's 'Hallowed be thy name' originally done by Iron Maiden...
Those are the only two that I can truely say are better.

the RollingStones did a pretty sad version of "like a stone"
But notice how all the people who cover his songs are not folk bands?
Guns n Roses, Dave Mathews, Hendrix; they're all these good bands that play totally differant music, not many people are into the way dylan records his music, it's almost folk, that's why people like us think the covers are better, because we dont' know any better, we're not familiar, or even like the original artists, then a long come these bands that we know, like metallica, guns n roses, rage against the machine, etc who cover these bands, and we go "oh, that was awesome".
