Service Engine Light

1999 4 cylinder. Just replaced catalytic convertor. Now I need to reset the service engine light how do you go about doing that, I tried taking off the battery cables and touching them and then starting the truck up but the light is still on.

you need an obdII scanner in order to delete the codes to turn off the check engine light. disconnecting the battery cable doesnt work anymore.
