98 Corolla Ce Headlights shorting out

Hello,
I recently bought a 98 Corolla CE with 62000 miles on it. Anyways a few days after buying it I drove it in the dark and used my lights. When I parked the car and tried to turn off the lights they started blinking really fast and the light in the radio and clock started blinking too. It also had a clicking sound, like a sound you would hear when touching 2 wires together when they have electricity running through them. So far I have searched the internet about other people with these problems but I havent found any. This tells me that this is not a common problem that happens to this model. I am going to take it back to the Toyota dealer today to see if I can get it fixed for free since I have only had it for 5 days and a actul toyota dealership should not be selling cars with lights that dont work properly. In the event they try to make me pay for this does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to try to fix it?
THanks

I have a 98 Corolla LE and my headlights have stopped working.

Have they fixed your problem or you got rid of the car?

I have had my car since 98 and this is the first major problem I have had. About a year and a half ago the DRLs stopped working but the headlights still were working. The other day the headlights stopped working. The dealership said it was not the bulb, fuse, relay, or headlight switch. They do not seem to know. If you have any info let me know.

Thanks,
TY

my question is...how do dealerships not know what is up with it? they have shop manuals, experience etc. if anyone should know, it should be them... except the fact that i test drove a grand am, went back, test drove it again. the second time the engine light popped on, the oil light popped on, and i smelt antifreeze out of the vents. it had a blown heater core...some how they "didnt catch that"

Ty,
The dealership fixed my car for free. The problem according to the dealership was that the "module has burned out and needs to be replaced". I guess they either didnt know that the car had DRL or they were trying to sell it to me and see how far I got before I found out. They work fine now though. It looks like you will need to buy a new module and have them install it. It may cost you a few hundred. So far I have had my car for about 5 months now and the only thing that happened was the battery died and they replaced that for free too. The people in the service shop are kind of jerks though and I have since stopped going to that dealership for repairs. They have the attitude of "Whats the f*&^?, I have this nice job here but Im gonna act like your wrong for coming here for service"
