carfax vs autocheck

hmmm... okay I looked up the same vin's on these two webs and both gave me different numbers of records. 2HGEJ6325WH121678
its a 98 Honda Civic HB. carfax gave me 4 records, autocheck gave me 11 records.... are there anyother websites that give you the record numbers? Which one's are more reliable and more accurate?

Okay, I signed up for Autocheck's unlimited account. Don't use Autocheck! I did a comparison using the same vehicle VIN for both Carfax and Autocheck. Carfax's reports are sooooo much more detailed. Plus, Autocheck missed some odometer readings, while Carfax listed more odometer readings; and this wasn't just for one vehicle, but several. Carfax even gives you reports on when the engine was serviced, oil changes, etc.... Autocheck doesn't do that. The only other VIN Check program is http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/used/ towards the middle of the page. But I think it just uses either Carfax or Autocheck.




You can post your VIN here, and I'll give you a report in this thread using Autocheck. The number of records don't mean anything, because the two programs use different ways of reading the records, so one will display more than another. But both reports will be similar.

yea i agree i saw some samples of carfax and it looked much more detailed then the one brandon gave me which was from autocheak....Im going to try and find a person with carfax and im going to compare my truck from the two different auto reports and see what i think is better.

I realize this thread has gone completely off topic and is just people trying to mooch now, but back to the original, take both with a grain of salt. I know people who used to own a body shop and they said that they never submitted their stuff to these companies. And they also use insurance companies for records but if you dont submit a claim, then they wont get it. Neither are 100%.
