5 speed question

1990 ford probe

5 speed the car runs great but I have a question about the shifter it is stiff why would this be it go into the gears fine but just to move the shifter seems realy stiff Should I be worried about this ?

Lube the pivot ball?

how do I do that

take the boot off take the shifter with all its litttle bolts and safety thingys and lube IT UP@!
