VN Splutter

I have this 89" VN that would die on me as soon as I put it in gear , the rev's were o k when in idle and I have just fitted new spark leads to it as well! . IS it the one of the coils or sparkplugs ? - or do I have to take it to the bank and loan an arm and leg out to get the shop to fix it !!! . :banghead:
