hey fellas just a few questions on the 302. supose one were to build an ass kicken 302 but somehow managed to crack the block, can u buy an aftermarket stronger block to jstu wap all your parts into? is it that simple or is more work needed. the reason i am asking is because i have asked in forums before how much power the stock 302 can take and ive herd ranges of it cracken at 500hp all the way to 8-900 hp i dont now what to think and im sure there are to many factors to get a good answer. but can anyone give me a guess of how much it will take. and im not talking about daily driven car. thanks guys if either ?'s can be answered i would be greatfully

You can buy a lot of stronger blocks (R302, Dart, Mexican block etc.) However, I wouldn't just swap parts into another block. I would get new bearings, and have the rotating assembly balanced etc. As for how much power the stock block can take, it really depends on your tune, how you use it and in what shape the particular block you're using is in etc. You can crack a block if you're making even 400hp if your tune is bad enough. For example, if you have nitrous, make sure the engine is getting enough fuel. It's really common sense. I know a guy who had a 302 with a wet shot, and one day the fuel didn't get to the motor, all he got was nitrous. Cracked the block in half, after that he got a 398 stroker. :evillol:

I've been wondering the same thing. I am looking for 400-500 hp and was hoping that I wouldn't need to go with a dart block. Like the DSS strokers are supported, how much can they handle if your car is healthy? or a bad tune?
