no power to fuel pump--help!

Ok, 98 yukon with 140k on it. Replaced the pump for the first time when i was blowing fuses. Problem solved. 3 weeks after the car wont start cuz the pump won't turn on, stuck 4 hours from home no less. Tow it back to a dealer and the next day it starts! So they replace the pump again just to make sure. Car worked great for less then a day and now it is stuck at the parking lot at work cuz it won't start again--pump isn't getting juice. I changed all the fuses and replaced the pump relay. Im getting pissed off. What am i missing?

I need the GM tech for this one.

I would check the wiring between the connector and the top of the tank. An intermittent problem like that almost has to be wiring. Something might have gotten pinched putting the tank back up.

yeah i was thinking of that, but the tank has been off twice now with two brand new pumps, don't see anything, should i just replace the electrical line, get new plugs and stuff?

I read elsewhere that the electrical connections inside the tank to the fuel pump get corroded. They initially start to fail intermittently and then completely. My suggestion is to drain drop the tank. Get into it, however you do that, and then check out the connections to the pump. My bet is you'll need to redo them and protect them from corrossion.

thats true, but inside the tank is a whole unit(all the wires pumps and floats are in this, there are no other wires inside the tank, which was replaced oringinally 1 month ago when the wires corroded and shorted out the fuses under the hood as a result. The whole sending unit was replaced a second time when i got stuck 4 hours from home cuz we thought the pump was fubar again. Its got to be an electrical problem outside the tank. Question is--WHERE?

our 04 yukon had 6,000 miles on it and broke down. dealer tried to convince us a butterfly in the air intake did it! a mile later it went down again. they fixed the fuel pump. 5,000 miles later it died again and GM admitted they have a problem with the fuel pump in high temps and high elevations. 4 weeks later we received another fuel pump....time will tell if it is the new generation model.
