Small Upgrades

I am starting to upgrade my car with little things because I am low on cash. I know that I need a cold air intake, and muffler. Do you platinum spark plugs and/or performance spark plug wires do much? I am also looking for an inexpensive (under $500) exhaust manifold. Does anybody know where i may be able to find a decent one for that price? I also would like to know where most people buy there parts at. Thanks

if you go over to www.club3g.com or www.eclipseforums.org there is a sale going on for injen cold air intakes. in my opinion, spark plugs and/or performance wires will do nothing for your car unless they are old and need to be replaced.

the company that owns www.eclipseforums.org is selling their set of headers for like $499.

www.roadraceengineering.com is a good place to look for stuff for our cars.

also www.google.com is a great place to search for websites that sell parts for the eclipse. there is probably more than 1000 websites

Do pulley's do much? If they do, where could i find them for decent price. I was told Rippmods but there like 300 for both of them.. Thats a lil expensive for them..isnt it?

no pulleys will only dim your lights. and no you cant use rippmods pulleys. those pulleys are for their SDS system. they are not for a stock engine

Ok, to tell you the truth, these mods arent going to gain you much horsepower. I mean I dont know why ppl like CAI so much. It is overrated. A CAI system will only gain you like 5whp which is pointless. $200+ for a good CAI system to gain you only 5-7whp????!!!! Thats a waste of money. An Exhaust Manifold wont do you much unless you buy the whole Exhaust system. even that wont gain you much hp...the way to go is to keep your money and save (as long as it takes) and get FI...This is the only true mod to gain you a very noticable hp gain.

I want all go and no show. This car is also a daily driver so i cant really like take the back seat out. I think FI is way to expensive for me to afford. Rite now I have $1200. I saw that Rippmods has some really good headers. Would it be smarter to buy those or buy a whole bunch of little stuff.

:jump3: F.I. is certainly the way to go. I beileve all up grades are determined by your base up-grade, which should be a turbo kit.
If you are truely looking for a way to have a "higher-than-stock-performing" Eclipse F.I. is the only way to go!

i agree with selekta on the F.I. but its your money. if you want the power now, then i would probably go with RIPP headers. if you can wait, then i would save the money for the turbo kit

How much are turbo kits anyway?

I got an 01 GT in July and I'm just now looking at doing some upgrades and stuff. But I want to do it right. And I'm looking for all go pretty much, not much into the show b/c my car is also a daily driver.

I'm putting on some altezza's tomorrow and then I'm going to be getting the windows tinted, but otherwise if I'm gonna put money into my car I want it for performance. And I REALLy want to turbo my car. So I'm kinda in the same boat as the guy that started this thread.

the turbo kit is $3900. there is a thread about it if you scroll down some. i think the title of it is "4 turbo kits available"
