Automatic HVAC Controls on Limited Edition

I just got a 1998 Century Limited today (all options except for OnStar and a sunroof). There is only one thing wrong with it... the hvac display does not work. The controls work fine, but it does not display anything. I asked the previous owner about it... he said that it use to light up, but it just started getting dimmer and dimmer each day until it wouldn't display anything. Any ideas why this could be?

I hope someone has some input here....I just bought the same, a '98 Century Limited, that has the exact problem. I like to know how to fix this thing.

I just got a 98 century for my mom with the same problem.

I found how to fix it. Simply go here http://www.regalgs.org/climate.htm and follow these instructions. I'm not good at doing this kind of stuff so I printed out the instructions and brought the hvac unit to a local tv shop and the guy fixed it for free.

This may be a little late but thanks for the info on this repair. I've struggled with this for 2 years now. After following the instructions you provided I got my display back and saved $400 in the process.
