Bigger Tires

96Trooper

I've got a 96 Trooper w/ stock rims tires (245/70R/16) I was wondering what the biggest tires I would be able to put on my truck? (w/o lift?) (W/ 2" lift? ) (All of this w/o rubbing) -- Second question, what is better for snow? big wide tires or tall narrow tires? (Appreciate your advise/insights)

I have a 1995 Trooper S and I just put on some 265/75R-16 BF Goodrich Radial AT KO tires on my stock 16 inch wheels. I still have 1" of clearance even with a hard turn. The guys at the shop did a little test before I bought them. I needed new tires anyway and was planning on doing a 2" life to accomodate these tires, but don't need to at this time. I'll do the lift at a later time ($$$).

I bought the vehicle with 265/70-R-16 Desert Duelers on it. I noticed the smoother ride right away. Hope this helps this some. Mike/badmylin

Hi

1993 Trooper 16 x 7 standard wheels.

I run BFG 285/75/16.

On full lock they just rub the front sway bar.

You can choose to worry about this....or adjust the max turn stops a tad....which i haven't bothered with.

No rubbing anywhere else, even offroad.

The tyres fit and look great....and give a 'free' 2" lift over standard.

Speedometer reads 10% under real speed...so be aware.
