Front Axle Leak

MY 93 S19 blazer has developed a leak in the driver side axle of the front end. Looks like a seal and my mechanic sez I need to take it to a transmission shop. Looks to me like something any competent auto shop should be able to fix.

Any input?

omg
why would have to take it to a tranny shop????
You are talking about the front diff driverside seal on the front diff right. That is so common on all trucks. Any GOOD Tech should be able to fix that in a few hours. And that is with 3 smoke breaks and then take a leak in the can.
Its so easy
jack up truck put stands on frame rails
Remove lower ball joint nut and axle nut on the rotor. Seperate lower ball joint
pull the entire hub towards you while pulling back on the axle to get it out of the hub. Pull only on the cv joint and not on the boot.
At the diif take a large pry bar and pop out the axle shaft. Reomve seal clean the entire area and reinstall.
