Should I buy a 95 z28 with over 100k miles? its an automatic v8. Pops says I shouldnt get it because it will be in the shop every other month, and after a year Im going to need a new car. What do you think?

I haven't had any problems, I have 81K on my LT1. Kinda depends on how it's been treated. I take care of my baby real good.

i bought my last 94 with 120K on it for 5500. i paid too much and it was kindof a p.o.s., it seemed good at first and then all kinds of crazy stuff started happening, radio went crazy, interior lights, all kinds of stuff, i think it was just ragged out. but really it all depends on how they drove the car.

I got my car with 160k and it's been running great since I got it. I've had to do a few minor maintainance things with it but that's about it. Oh, and I drive the shit out of it too... ;)

i bought a 95 Z28 with 100k on it and i've had quite a few minor problems....just waiting for the big one....i probaly have $1800 into it since i've owned it(tires,brakes,k&n....tune-ups...wires ,plugs, water pump....) they arent cheap cars to repair but if you find a car for a good price its a good fun ride

10-19-2004, 07:55 PM
i forgot to mention the electical fire i had a few months after i had the car....starter shorted out (which was changed a few months before i bought the car) and yeah electrical fire....insurance covered that one otherwise that 1800 would be a little higher

My 89 has 160k on it and I beat it like a red headed step child and havent fixed anything on it :D

I think any camaro is worth it.

bigants036
10-19-2004, 09:01 PM
after a few hours of looking around I found a 97 camaro with around 60,000 miles on it for 7 grand, if I can magically turn that 7k into about 5.5k Ill be set. Got the pops to agree to it. :iceslolan

Sad part.. its a v6 automatic. I can fix the auto but I can live with a 6 banger, at least its a Camaro.

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 09:05 PM
dont buy a 6 banger you will regret it bigtime trust me!

bigants036
10-19-2004, 10:10 PM
Its only my first car. Whats wrong with a v6, other than its not as good as a v8.

KaotiKCamaro5
10-19-2004, 10:14 PM
yeah.. what is wrong with a V6.. matter of fact, i've chalked up a W against a 3rd gen 305.. you wont regret owning a v6 if you know what you're doing.. and my car has 120k on it, and runnin way stronger than it ever has

Genopsyde
10-19-2004, 10:18 PM
anybody can beat a 3rd gen 305

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:19 PM
my first car was the z28 and it makes for something to remember, after owning a v8 it just doesnt seem like the camaro experience with the v6....you can get a z28 for 5,500 if you look hard enough. it will just have high miles but like most of the guys have said on this site their cars are still running great with 150k+ on them. I guess what im trying to say is for the price difference you are missing out on a whole lot if you go v6...and you will always remember the z28 as your first car

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:20 PM
im not saying anything is wrong with the v6 but the v8 is just a heck of a lot more car and more fun

KaotiKCamaro5
10-19-2004, 10:21 PM
86 IROC i think it had a high output 305 with tpi?.. regardless of what it had, it ate my dust by 4 car lengths

10-19-2004, 10:24 PM
KaotiKCamaro5 where did u get your grill insert(over fog lights) or what is that?

KaotiKCamaro5
10-19-2004, 10:27 PM
the insert goes over the fog lights, i dont remember where i got it from, but it's made by GrilleCraft, you can pry find it on ebay.. or RKSport.. i'll get a pic up to show a closer view

bigants036
10-19-2004, 10:28 PM

my Lt1 has over 180k on it... never ever had a problem. Hasnt had the valve covers off yet. Still beats a 04 GT. And the engine sounds as good as the day it was made.. THere is 0 problems with it.

my parents thought a 350 6speed would get me in too much trouble....ha no tickets or anything for 2 yrs so far...you just know how to be smart about it...make a deal with him that if u get in trouble with it he gets the keys

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:33 PM
man im going to have to get me one of those grills....i hate the black on the front of my car right now...

KaotiKCamaro5
10-19-2004, 10:34 PM
yeah, i love how the grille looks on my car.. its sweet walkin up on it from the side, makes the front look a little more agressive

Lotus49
10-19-2004, 10:35 PM
Dude.. get a z28.. cover up the logo and put like RS there.. never open the hood. and put silencers on ur pipes.. and if they ask.. its a 5spd 6banger

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:37 PM
i'd do that but its like murder to cover up the z28 logo, never open the hood, and silence it

KaotiKCamaro5
10-19-2004, 10:41 PM
my buddy cooper has a 96 Cougar with a 4.6L and nobody ever believes its an 8 until he blows em away.. he actually raced a 94-98 Stang GT and beat the shit out of the guy.. but the cougar is so quiet that you wouldnt think it until you see it..

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:42 PM
sorry to thread jack but what do you think would look better on my car the silver grill or black?

KaotiKCamaro5
10-19-2004, 10:44 PM
i think the silver would pry go better with the rims, but the black would pry show through.. kindof a toss up..

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:47 PM
im going to have to find one on ebay if they are $160!

BiggyD
10-19-2004, 10:55 PM
Go with the V8...if you want a lower price look around more and wait till into winter. Trust me, I bought my car in Feb. when they couldn't give it away(everyone wants a winter vehicle then)...they were askin 12K and I walked out of there with it for 8.5K. Only had 70K miles on it.

cuda_dude
10-19-2004, 10:58 PM
i'll sell you mine for 7k...maybe
