with subs, what is better for ohms? lower right? or does it not matter? im looking at some soundstream subs that are 1 ohm, dual voice coil, 900 watts rms each, i want to run two, so 1800 rms total, what kind of amp do i need? i want a monoblock but what watts shoul i look for? and what ohms should i run it?

Because it's far easier to start your own thread and type a paragraph than it is to enter the word "ohms" into the search query and press enter.
Jeebus... Have you still not got your Brahma yet??? What are you using for crossovers for your Kodas?

nah, UPS is a bunch of dickwads...for some reason the box just sat in Washington for a full week, not moving at all. I was watching this on their web tracking, for a full week it just said that it was at their facility in Washington and the delivery time was unknown. Finally this morning it started moving, and it has a "re-scheduled" delivery time of the 26th (next Tues). Oh well, it's not like I have the box yet anyway.
And I'm using the 9835 in 3-way mode for the kodas. Sub is running from 63hz down, mids are running from 50-3200, and the tweets are running from 3200 and up. It sounds amazing, now I just need the B to top it all off....

Same thing happened with my nine.1

No one wants to tell him the answer? You need an amp, that is one (1) ohm stable. This may be hard to come by. Most are lowest 2 ohm stable. Also, when connecting subs, wire in series, not parallel, if you connect each one ohm sub in parallel, you will have a total load impedence of .5 ohms, and I'm pretty sure that would fry almost any amp.

finally an anwser, yeah! would it be better/easier to just run two mono amps for each sub @ 1 ohm?

tblake these are 1 ohm dual vc. So wire series parallel and get a 1 ohm total load. Get a nine.1 and you should be fine

I'm not quite sure if the 1 ohm you are talking about is the total between the dual voice coil? If it says on your seb specs that each sub is one ohm, I would get 2, wire in series, for a total load impedence of 2 ohms, then find a good amp that is 2 ohm stable, and bridge the subs to the amp. Get what I'm saying? I hope I havn't confused you, but I kinda did myself, not sure where that dual voice coil comes into play Haibane. Sorry to hear that picquerist. Just gotta watch those sorts of things, I guess. Wanna sell your fried amp? What kind is it?

Hehe, sorry for the thread hijacking bud. JL has some nice tutorials on how to wire subs correctly with pictures, since sometimes it's difficult to explain with just text.

From what I can see, you have a couple of options with two dual 1-ohm subs. You'll probably want to shoot for 1 or 4 ohms total between the two subs, since most monoblocks put out their highest rated power at 1 ohm, and most two channels will put out most power at 4 ohms. For 4 ohms total, you'd wire the coils on each sub in series to make each sub 2 ohms total, and then series the two subs together. For a 1-ohm load, do the same as above, but wire the two subs parallel instead of series inside the box. Hope this helps!
