Reccomendations for my Spyder...

I have a 1998 Spyder N/T with a 4G64 mated to an auto tranny. I bought the car about 6 months ago with the idea that this winter I would mod the crap out of it. Basically, I want to go forced induction, and achieve a reliable 350+ WHP. The car is currently bone stock (performance wise). I have been talking to my buddy here in Kalispell, UrbanDSM, about what mods I should attempt. I have a fairly good knowledge of auto mechanics, and have built a few project cars myself.
The question for my fellow DSM heads is: What mods do you recommend to achieve my goal (I have a budget of about $4,000). Should I retain and rebuild my 4G64 with forged internals, or should I spring for a Gen I 6 bolt? Also what turbo, exhaust, intake and computer controller should I consider? I have some in mind, but my dream list is like $6000. On a side note, my stock tranny never has done so well. It shifts like crap through all gears, and it probably is on its way out. Should I wait till' I blow it up, or it there another inexpensive way?
Any knowledge/comments are welcome!

i swapped my spyder for a GST spyder. Here in CA, the guy who purchased my car turboes it. When he got pulled over, the police saw on his registration that it was a GS spyder and not a turbo. they told him to remove EVERYTHING. something to think about.

Yeah, here in Montana we don't even have emission laws. I got pulled over in my 2004 STi with tons of mods, and just got a well deserved speeding ticket . Appreciate your help guys!
