Has anyone here tried running just 2 winter tires for the winter season? ie: 2 winter tires on the front of my fwd car. Just curious. Tires are stupidly expensive where I am.

i had a friend get 2 snow tires for the back of his mustang, it helped his traction, but it didn't really help his snowy cornering, that's why he went into the woods one day and clipped a tree. FWD though it would make you oversteer though, which is harder to tear stuff up with but easier to kill yourself.

The first time you try to change lanes or go around a corner in snow or on ice, you will find the back end of the car is going to be all over the road. With a newer snow tire you are looking at about 60-70% more traction than the rear tires are going to have. The handling on dry pavement will be very unstable as well. It's safer to run four all-seasons than two snows up front or out back. They may be expensive but not as expensive as an insurance deductable or medical bills.
