Hi everyone nice forum here. I just picked up a nice used 2002 Trail Blazer. I noticed today that the shift light 4x4 selector light is not working. I ran the switch through the 4hi 4 low AWD and nothing I used to be able to hear it select the driveline automaticly, Has anyone else had this problem? From my experiance its probably a bad sensor or switch. Please help if you have had the same problems. Thanks and take care.

I got a used 2002 also and the light went out. I took it to the dealer and they had to update the software. It cost about $90 for the service. Has worked fine since.

Picked up my 04 on a few days ago and when I was parked I switched the 2 hi selector to A4WD and the service light remained on. I had to turn the TB off to clear the problem. I switched the 2hi selector again to A4WD while the TB was moving and it worked fine. I contacted the dealer for other information relating to my TB and I mentioned what had happened and indicated that everything seems to be fine. The salesperson form the dealership wanted to pick up my TB while I am at work and bring it in to see what codes my TB has stored in the computer. I hope its not a problem I really like this SUV and it is only a few days old to me. I bought it with 30,000km and it was a demo unit. Does anybody know if you should shift from 2hi to A4WD or 4WD hi while it is moving or should it switch even if the SUV is stopped?
Thanks
Thanks

The thing that I have been told was that if the light was to go out....which has happened to me once, then you don't have A4WD/4HI OR 4LO. Your switch is bad & you need a new one.......
As far as the switching between the 2 wheel to 4 wheel, your vehicle should be moving & not stopped. It doesn't matter what the spped is when your doing it.
One thing to point out.....DON'T switch the knob from 2 wheel to 4HI while the wheels are spinning. I have been told that it is bad to do so.
Take your foot off of the gas to stop spinning & then engage the knob to 4HI.
You'll notice if you have the switch in automatic 4 wheel that you still will get a little bit of rear wheel spin & then after a second, the front wheels will engage. Feels kinda weird when it does so......almost like getting a tap from behind. You'll see what I am talking about the first time it happens.
Almost forgot.....if you want to switch from 2 wheel to 4LOW, you must first put it in 4HI, then come to just about a complete stop & then switch it to 4LO. You should be doing like 1-2MPH at most. Then do what y0ou have to do in 4LO. To get it out of 4LO, you must reverse the process. Get back down to about 1-2MPH & then switch into 4HI. The go about your biz on switching from 4HI to A4WD or 2 wheel.
I used to come to a complete stop in 4HI & then put the vehicle into nuetral & then switch to 4LO, but I was told not to do it that way anymore. It never hurt anything in the past so I don't really know what harm it did if any......
Anyway....if you have any other questions....feel free to ask. I am not a mechanic or anything, but I am always willing to share any info, that I can to help.

Anyone have this similar problem.....?
Sometimes when I'm driving in 2hi, the light will switch to 4AWD and at the same time the ligh for 4hi will flash. The selector knob is in 2hi the whole time - I never touched it.
From reading these forums, it sounds like it could be a faulty switch or in need of a software update. Any one have any more info?

I have the same problem. I had the Transfer Case Control Module replaced in December. I took it home and it bahaved the same. The shop didn't flash the Firmware. I took it back and it's been working fine until last week when it swtiched to 4HD from 2HI all by itself. There is something seriously wrong with the 2002 models. If you are still under warranty go have it replaced. Otherwise, it will cost you several hundred down the road.
