the rev limit on b18a is 8200 right??? cause on mine it cuts off around at the same as my 1.6 did(7200). i am using an ecu from a 90 teg(obd0)my engine is from a 92(obd1) if that makes a difference. so why does it cut off at 7200 instead of 8200???

Is it a a pm6? or a pm7? because i think those have a 7200 rev limit.

My zc has a pm6 ( ithink its chipped) and it does 7200. and the integra ECU (pg7) for my car is 7500... so maybe you just have the wrong ECU in there?

anyways, the rev limit on a 90-91 PR4 is 6800. On the newer B18B1, its stepped up to 7200.

Yeah well im sure you can get it up to 7200 despite the fact the rev limiter is at 6800.

and i ask "but why the engine doesnt make power that high"

thats true. i find it stops making power around 6500. it seams to kick a bit around 5 so i try to keep it in that range.

How excactly do you "keep" it there... You can't shift after the red line, and its gonna drop when you shift to a certain spot, i never understood how people can try to keep their revs high...

the b18c1 redlines there.just becouse the rev gauge shows that it goes to 8500 or so dont mean you should take it up there that high.its where the red line starts not when it ends.you also shouldnt take it to the rev limit (fuel cutt off) honda put that there for a reason. so you dont blow ur engine up.unless you got aftermarket cams and the fuel management set right.but like the other guy said, 6500.dont take it any higher.

I shift at 6500 with my D15B, fells great. My friend shifts as high as he can with his B16. Before he had his Vtec wired in he was revving to 8000 with a chipped ecu.

Why would u even wanna go to 6500 in a d15...I don't even like the feel when I go to 6500 in my sohc zc.

i revved all my d16s to 7500. I set my rev limit on my Y7/Z6 turbo at 7800 but usually shifted at 7500. comp 59300 cam helps out on the top end along with the boost.

I rev my b18a1 to about 7-7200.

Its not always about "how high do you make power" its about how slow the power falls off after peak and gearing. Lets say you make peak power 150hp @ 6500. shifting at 6500 drops you to a thereotical rpm of 4500. But lets say you take those revs to 7000 or 7500.. you then drop to 5000-5500. So here we find that higher revs lead to better gearing. How does better gearing come into play you might ask yourself? Well i'll tell you.

most often times, the power curve after peak power falls off slower than it gains. what this means is that by shifting at 7500, you're making more power than if you were to shift at 6500 and fall lower into the rpm band.

now, if we all had perfect racing transmissions that would allow you to shift at peak horsepower and fall to peak torque, there would be no need to rev the engine any higher.

Bc I have alot more power when I shift that high and plus with my cold air intake and the ram air hole thing it gets alot more power (it feels like) with just my short ram on I dont like to rev past 3k bc it feels like shit compared to cold air. I hate short rams now.

i usually shift at 6600-6900 when i race. not everytime.
