89 cutlass supreme INT'L

Ok, I am working on a 1989 Cutlass supreme. The car starts ok, but the second I even touch the gas it dies, even if I just rest my foot on the pedal. The oil gauge is pinned, which I am guessing is a sending unit problem. I read that the oil sending switch also controls the fuel pump. Does anyone know anything about this?
