i had an 88 f150 and now i have a 2003 f150. on the 88, after about six months the truck would not go into gear. i would push the clutch in and try to shift, but it would not budge. the past owner said to put brake fluid into the clutch booster, which eventually worked. on my 03 f150, there are times i go to put into first and it won't go into gear. if i really try to force it, it will go,but grinds pretty hard. other times i can put it into fourth to move it, and then go to first where it then goes in smoothly. other times i have to turn off the truck to reset it to get it to go into gear. does anyone else seem to have sticking problems with the shifter? never had any problems like this with any other company. don't really want to put brake fluid in clutch booster on such a new truck.

If it shifts normally into "R", but not into "1", then you have a problem inside the trans.
