Supercharging Question?

Does superchargers use intercoolers? If they dont, how do you cool them? Dont really know much about supercharging. Thanks

Jackson Racing offers an oil cooler for their supercharger. Its said to increase HP on the SC, dont know if its much thou.

Most superchargers you can buy don't come with one. But you can install one which will help it out alot. A supercharger kit with an intercooler should make more power than a kit without an intercooler. Adding an intercooler to a supercharger kit lets you run the setup with more psi, because the intake air is alot cooler than if you didn't have an intercooler. It also lets you run a higher psi and more ignition timing because of the cooler air charge.

Errr... Jackson racing offers a water injection kit for cooling the intake charge with the supercharger kit.
They also offer an oil cooler kit, for cooling down the motor oil, having nothing whatsoever to do with the supercharger.

It's just a plumbing problem. A lot of roots-type superchargers sit directly on the intake manifold because it's the only place they'll fit under the hood. That makes it really hard to get two big pipes out to an intercooler.
Any method of forced induction will benefit in power and reliability by the use of a properly sized intercooler.

They also offer an oil cooler kit, for cooling down the motor oil, having nothing whatsoever to do with the supercharger.

I heard that the JR Oil cooler is pretty expensive like around $400.

The oil cooler retails at $299.95 and is only available for the '92-'00 Civic SOHC.

If you go with s/c go with VORTECH! Yes, an intercooler and oil cooler does help. Try fluidyne.

I'm not sure about HP gains on a S/C, but Greddy rates their increase from an intercooler (one that doesn't cause much lag or heat soaking) to increase from 20-30HP at the same boost level. I would assume this is run at a maximum of 9psi on a Civic. I would never run more than that without an intercooler. Too damn hot baby!
