I was just wondering if anyone has bought the BOMZ short ram on e-bay and if it's worth it. I was thinking about getting it for myself and a friend with a 98 cougar.

Also, for beyondloadedse, i was wondering where you got the body parts to make yours look like an SVT.

I would not recommend the BOMZ intake. For starters, the adapter for the intake is too small. Also, inverted conical filters have been dyno proven to lose hp due to turbulent air. Id get the K&N RU-3530 filter, maf adapter from duratecperformance.com, and if your up to the challenge, make a homemade heatshield.

The bodykit is all from an svt contour. I picked up the rear and front svt fascias at a local junkyard and the sides off ebay. The front takes extensive modification and molding to fit on a pre 98 contour.

thanks for the response loaded. good thing you told me about the intake. i was also wondering if you knew a approx. price for the one u suggested and also, nicely done on the svt work, i was figuring it would be a custom build. i was just being curious as to what work was involved to get the svt conv. to look as smooth as urs. any more info for starting mods would be greatly appreciated.

The K&N RU-3530 is about $60 and the MAF adapter is about $40. So its about $100. Its a better quality unit than the BOMZ, so personally I think the extra money is worth it. Check out www.batinc.net and download their pdf file catalog. They list a K&N conical filter and im pretty sure its the RU-3530 model, but I would call just to make sure. Also, while your add it, Id get the polished aluminum intake pipe they sell for about $80 that replaces the accordian rubber intake pipe.

As for the conversion, its almost easier to just mold the lower half of an svt fascia to the top part of your stock fascia. Mine is a full svt fascia so a lot more fabrication was required. Cutting around the turn signal housing is required, lengthening the fascia by about 5" to extend underneath the headlights and grill, fabricating some pieces to fit between the grill and headlights (notice i dont have the stock oval grill shape), and of course plenty of bodyfiller. :grinno:
