5.0 drop in mx-6

Hey I'm a new to tuning, but i've always wanted to. Now that I able to get some money, it looks like I might be able to finance a project car. I have an idea for a car that I think might work, but I want some feedback from more experienced people. I've heard of people dropping ford 5.0's in miata's, and that got me thinking. Since I really like the body style of the mx-6's, I would like to finance a project to drop a 5.0 in one. I think it would be the ultimate sleeper/original car. I haven't seen one tuned mx-6 around where I live, and I know there would be way more potential for power with the larger displacement of the 5.0.
So what do you guys think? Would this be feasible, and if so what would I be looking at as far as modifications to fit the larger engine? i.e. engine bay, electronics, transmission, etc...
I know it'll be hard for a newbie tuner, but I never said it was gonna happen overnight. Thanks for any and all help and feedback on this
PS. I wasn't sure if this would be the right forum to post this, so if i should take this somewhere else let me know.

Hey I researched dropping the 5.0 in a probe since they share the same engine with the mx-6, but all I found was that it wouldn't be feasible unless I wanted to build it from the body up.
So much for my kick ass idea.
However I did find something interesting.... apparently 3.0L SH0 engines fit in the probes. Sounds like a tight squeeze, but oh well. What do you guys think?

enough time and money U can do anything....
ford probe and mazda mx-6 are really similar....
I'm think the 3.0 SHO engine swap will be a whole lot easier, money saving, and time saving.

Check the following boards and do a search I think here is someone on the Probe board that has done this in California
Probe.com or MX6.com both are awesome boards but you have to search the forums or get flamed if you just ask a question
Good luck
the engine bays of these cars are a really tight fit and the transmissions would not likely take the output of a 5. litre engine they barely can handle the 2.5 l

start with just the mx6 body and add the 5.0 or 4.9 ford and then the tranny and rear get custom built drive shaft .and take a computer from a 5.0 place the wiring harness.

thats with the 1st gens only, your looking at alot of work to drop that motor into a 2nd gen.

why not look into a 3.0 duratec block with a SVT contour head and cams? would be aobut 225whp at the crank 23xtq. but i dont know how it would bold up for you guys. might be just as hard as a SHO swap.

why the hell would you put anything ford taurus in your mazda? just turbo your 2.5l and itll be fast enough. (and a lot more fun to drive than a 5.0) there are many turbo kit available for the 2nd gen 6. i just sold my mx6 a month ago but I was looking into getting turbos, but I did not have enough money for them.

because the SVT/3.0l hybrid with basic bolt-ons(headers, pully, intake, exaust, chip and camgears) can easily break 200whp, then if you use a worked head and good cams you can be pushing solid 230+whp, and not have the emissions problems that a turbo can cause.
not to mention if you add a TB, worked intake mani, good clutch, flywheel, LSD, raised compression and you'r making some nice numbers, and duratecs like boost.

yeah ok but with the engine plus those bolt ons you are looking at about 4-5 thousand dollars. You can get the turbo kit for around 2500. That was my point.
