Does it have a governor? if so, what speed does it kick in.

Depends on what tires it came with stock, But I have heard the speed rating if it is equiped is somewhere between 115 -133 MPH but no one ever gave a exact number that Iv'e seen

if anything there would be a electronic cut out and im pretty sure the 94 z28 along with the rest of the years dont have them. my 95 doesnt atleast

My car came from the factory with Z's so I don't know if they had them or not in 96.

heres an easy way to tell. if the speedometer goes up to 150+ it doesnt have a cut out

I know for a fact though that they did make LT1 F-body without Z rated tire's come with speed limiter so its not just third gen's. Just check out fbody.com or f-bodyhideout and they have video's of the car cutting out. But because they are still pulling strong its hard to tell the exact speed. If you wanna know for sure call Bryan at www.pcmforless.com he's a real cool guy and does all type of LT1 programming and he will let you know the exact speed it cuts you off.

Lol my friend and i were trying to figure that out without risking possible jail time. Although im sure he will take his car to max speed eventually... it would just be cool to know now heh

Z rated is speeds 149+, but anyways thats one of the very few things good about livin in neb. All the roads are strait and Long....towns being at least 20 miles apart. And if you do see a cop chances are your friends with him anyway. So if you want to test out your top speed you can just about anywhere anytime. :ylsuper:

I did a road trip across country from NY to Cali when I moved out west and on route 10 through Texas and Arizona its straight for 200 miles + and I was doing 135 MPH+ for a solid 45 minutes in my Z3 it was crazy but fun.

108? that sounds low... i've been to 110. Then again i remebmer something about that cutoff is for WOT and if you're at 1/2 throttle or less (maybe 3/4?) it doesnt cut... i dunno tho. Where'd you get 108 mph?

I heard that the 94's do have a governor in them and they kick in around 140.

my last 94 z28 had a governor that kicked in at 131 mph. i have another one now, the blue one, i have had up to 145 still pullin like crazy in only 5th. some do, some dont. both of them came new with zrated tires and 150 speedos.

i keep hearing all of these different answers on when it cuts out or if it does or how fast it was going when it cut out. The truth of the matter is i just need to find somewhere good to test it out and my 94 Z28 did come out of the factory i believe with z rated tires so... it should be able to reach 150 mph what the odometer reads. It's also funny cuz i used to have a 90 5.0 and i got that bad boy up too 145 and it still was climbing

I work with twenny all he does all day is admit how bad we smoke him from the line because he cant control his car. He complains that all he does is spin the tires in all of his gears and thats why we, the ricers (me, his brother, the guy with the 240, others as well) smoke him all the time.
