head swap

my friends hatch has a D16 engine with a d15b vtec head, and runs like hell, and i was wondering, are all D series compatible? and can i bolt my D16Z6 head in to a bigger block engine like the D20 of the accord or the D22of the prelude? and will it make more HP? i've read many threads about swaping, but no one semms to have done this swap, if some one has herd about this please let me know

Ummm...do you mean the F20 and the H22? If so then no. D-series head will only bolt onto d-series blocks. But yes all the D-series heads and blocks are compatible, meaning they will bolt up. But it does matter what year the head is and what ECU and year of car you have, because of the OBD differences. Like if you had a '96 d-series head (obd2) it'd bolt up to any d-series block, but in order for it to work in a '92-'95 car you'd have to do some wiring changes. But as long as your buddies car is a '92-'95 the motor should work. Is he sure he's using the right timing belt and that it's not too loose?
