Good work, Veyron--it's already looking really sweet! Hmm...for some weird reason, it makes me wonder how a topless Enzo would look like.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and encouragement.

All major body work is done and getting close to the painting stage.

The most important aspect of the work was to get a side window shape that works with those huge door coves... it wasn't easy to arrive at a window shape that looks good at all angles.

I filled in the vents on either side of the rear window and that was the last hint that it is a Modena roof exept for the shape of the rear window which happens to work with this car.

Moving the B pillars forward to the rear door panel line helped the look of the rear window.

I think the stock wheels look great on it.

That 3/4 rear view is stellar. No actually its 360° of perfection. Maybe becuase its from a Ferrari 360  but you are a genius. I salute you.

Prolly base coat of light gunmetal, midcoat of enough silver pearl for highlights, then clear.

That wierd red Porsche color for interior.

:spit: :loser:

Let's see, first post on A/F and you're accusing someone well-respected here of fraud, who happens to post his pictures on other boards under other names (including his proper name)...good going, Sherlock! :iceslolan

I also know him personally, and have seen his models in person. You're quite the detective now, aren't you?!

And welcome to A/F, sit down, read the site, learn who Veyron really is. Unless there's someone else posting his stuff as theirs, there is no fraud going on.

That's for sure, and if you think about it, when someone "copies" or borrows an idea for their model, I don't think of it as stealing so much as flattery. I recently saw a picture of a very similar Mustang Mach III coupe like one I built about 10 years ago from the convertible concept. Doesn't bother me a bit, they did a nice job and it wasn't identical.

And Veyron knows I've got ideas for a coupe version of the CGT as well... :evillol: It's getting to the point you can't tell my models from his from CADguy's...people in the club can't always tell who built what. We feed each other's insanity, and feed off each other's insanity  .

I've been following your conversion and it's turning out great.

While on the subject of the Tamiya Carrera GT, does anyone have English translations for the Acu-Stion p/e parts? I've managed to get both the screens and p/e detail set but I can never quite figure out how to use all the little fiddly bits. It seems a shame to leave anything on the fret. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt! It's me Bob Downie (in case you didn't know my handle). Welcome to A/F! There's a guy here named Layla's Keeper who is dying to know when a particular MGB-GT will be re-hatched (bad pun  ).

Sorry, can't help w/the parts request.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been lurking here for several years (even longer than my info indicates) since you turned me on to AF. Many great models and ideas here. I'm trying to slam a couple of curbsides (350Z and a Fujimi Skyline coupe) together to ease myself back into modeling. I am sooo glad Leon has re-introduced the Cobra Colors line of paints, except he's taking all my money. =8^)

On the B-GT, I discovered the example I have needs a little more work than I originally thought to bring it up to "local" standards. When you have Norman, Brad, and Rik Hoving as your mentors, it's a tough act to follow. But, enough whinning. I plan on having some castings available this winter. I'll be sending you one to get your reaction.

Take care,
Matt

I can get a whip and a dude in a loincloth with a drum (what I do in my spare time is none of your concern) if that would help the process. :evillol:

Seriously though, I own a 1970 MGB GT (nicknamed Layla, funny story why) and I have no desire to own the Kyosho diecast, nor can I find the All American Models resin body anywhere (which, I hear tell from Bob, he did the master for) so please please please get cracking on getting that body cast.

I'll need two, one to replicate Layla as she is and one to replicate the Layla I want in a few years.

Oh, and by the way, Veyron, you're doing awesome stuff with the Porsche model. The Carrera did nothing for me when I first saw it, but looking at this version with the roof makes me think of how much more the car could've been.

Kind of like looking at an Enzo and thinking "Gee, sure wish that looked more like the Maserati MC12".

Matt has one of the AAM bodies, we did an "official" handoff of the kit a few years ago (it was his kit in the first place but I guess he knows too many lawyers or something), so he has my blessing to copy it. He was probably one of Art's first customers for the GT. Matt claimed at least once in public that he's a staunch liberal (his staunch conservative friends provide him hours of eye-rolling point-counterpoint fun, especially on a long road trip), so what you do in your spare time is probably cool w/him, but you run the risk of him laughing his ass off while he's trying to get his work done  .

Matt Guilfoyle
10-30-2004, 09:34 AM
I'll definitely let you know when I have some BGT bodies available. I have a '69 GT unrestored driver myself and would love to do a "before and after" too. You can view photos of my car on Mike Cole's fotki album (starting with #47): http://public.fotki.com/mjcole/central_pa_model/october_2002/page3.html

And, as Bob says, I am a social liberal (but oddly enough, a fiscal consevative? I guess I'm independent), but the loin cloth thing is kind of freaking me out! =8^)

Take care,
Matt
