spark plugs and wiring on a '97 escort?

What is process for changing spark plugs and wiring on a '97 escort? and does anyone have some advice on a good set of plugs to improve mileage?

If your not sure of the order, just remove one plug wire at a time and plug. A good tip is silicone inside each end of the plug wire, will help keep moisture out. And as for a good plug, I use Bosch 4469's, there a little pricey at $5.20 each but, there awsome plugs! Hope this helps a little!

for best mileage, use whats recommended for the vehicle. In this case, that would be Motorcraft.

it only recommends motorcraft becuase that is the dealer parts. motorcraft are ford parts. motorcraft oil, is ford oil. so useing motorcraft anything, is just like going to the dealer and having them do it. some people like dealer parts and dealer prices, but I personally, dont ever buy dealership anything unless it cannot be bought or made anywhere else.

I went ahead and replaced Plugs and wiring. Much simpler than I was lead to believe.

I user top of th line Bosche+4's. Their great. Noticed instance and dramatic improvement to accelleration.

Hiway gas mileage is 50%, while city driving (Actually Toronto is idle, not driving) is virtually unchanged (@300-400KM/40Litres).

Next jobs are Serpentine belt and fuel filter.

your miliage seems abit low compared to my 93 auto lx.. the belt, just take your time use a 3/8 drive ratchet to loosen the tentioner, slip the belt out, slip the new one in, make sure its lined up and your done. I used the bosche myself, payed a hell of a price though, but its worth it. Run some lucus fuel cleaner through it when you get a chance. As far as using motomaster parts.. stay away.. stay far far away..

Thx, Snow - Tea, Paid $17 CAD for a pair, compared to $5 CAD/pr for ordinary plugs.... But performance diff alone makes 'em worth it. Gas mileage on top and they'll easily pay for themselves... even if they don't last the rated 250k KM.

I use only NKG. I have a set of performance 8mm wires and Iridium IX Spark Plugs. I have an intake and an Accel coil pack. I get at least 48 highway and 40 city
