Change Oil Sensor

I know from reading the other posts on here that the Change Oil Sensor does not pick up dust so if you drive in dusty enviroments you need to change more often.

My Truck has about 1,900 miles on it and I'm thinking about switching over to Synthetic Oil. My concern is, everyone says change the oil every 3000 miles, nobody ever mentions to do it when the light comes on. Can anyone tell me how the Sensor actualy works? Does it just take into consideration how hard or soft the truck was driven and calcualte based on that, or does it just take Miles and Hours and come on after that? Is it intelligent enough to measure the current effectivness of the oil in your engine?

Thanks,
Adam

So far as I know it is based on revolutions, temperature, etc. I don't think it actually analyzes anything in the oil.
