I just changed my oil yesterday. Did every thing as I always do. This morning, I realized that my pil perssuer gauge was moving alot. I dident know if it always did it or if something is wrong. Heres whats happening......

From a complete stop it sits at about 40, then when i start driving it goes up to 60. Then when i step on it it goes all the way up to 80. I dont rembering this happening before. Any one know why this is happening ??? or have i just been ignorant of this before? Please let me know.

I don't recall mine moving too much on my 2004 5.3 V8.

With my 5.3 it sits around 40 at idle, and at 2000rpm it is around 50-55. I can't recall it ever reaching 80, but then, the very few times that I've run it past 4000 RPM, the oil pressure gauge was the last thing I was paying attention to! The manual states that anywhere in the "normal operating range" is fine.

It's fine....don't worry about it...Everything sounds good. if you are worried about it, take the sender out, put a tee on it and add a manual pressure gauge. You need to keep the original inthere because the computer works off that signal i believe.

ok...thanks...drove into work this morning and it dident go as high. It only went from 40 to about 65-70. But if everyones thinks its not a problem i wont worry about it. But if it is...you are all held responsible.........just kidding

GM says that all the pressure their engines need to lubricate properly is 5 psi.
