Methinks you have a problem with the cam sensor. If you have the 3800, I think it's behind the pulley for the water pump. If you have the 3.8, it is behind the pulley for the water pump.

My 87 had the same problem (no error code though). After replacing almost everything (fuel filter, fuel pump, TPS, cam sensor, crank sensor, pressure regulator), I found that the radiator was clogged, causing it to run hot, but not hot enough to light the temp light. After sitting , the heat probably built up more, and it wouldnt start till cooldown. Since the radiator change, no problems. In fact, the coolant fan hardly runs at all now, and before it was running nearly constantly.

Well, I'm still thinking cam sensor, because if the computer doesn't see the data from it, it won't let the car start after it warms up (that is when the signal is used...not used when engine is cold).

I'm currently having the same problem. At one time I was getting code 41, but fixed that problem. Now no codes and will only run when cool.

Did you find anything out after towing to the shop?

Thanks for the post, however I don't think that would fix my problem as I am getting no codes from the computer. I believe a code would show if both of those sensors needed replaced.
