hey guys, this is kind of a dumb question but..... is it legal or will my car pass inspection with no back seat? i know that its not legal to drive around in a crx with a back seat because of all the stories i heard around here. so i was wondering if it would be the same for taking out a back seat in my hatch legalwise. i'm just too lazy to search thru the law book thing for vehicles.

should pass long as you dont have anyone driving in the back when you go for inspection...haha

As long as there seatbelts in the back, they shouldn't care

oh yea, and speaking of front lips....i searched around after i made mine and i found a site that sells 2 different kinds of front lips made from abs plastic.... http://www.allbodykits.com/ABS_Front_Lips.htm}
i think they're descent looking and they arent expensive

this might sound gay but it took me a long time to get my bumper the way it is now. i've done the home depot lip before with base cove molding and i glued it on with liquid nails. when i glued it on i made sure that the top part of the molding was even with the bottom of ur air dam of ur bumper and it'll be a perfectly smooth transition. then.... i took fiberglass reinforced body filler and added it to make it smooth with the bumper. then i sanded it and then added some regular body filler to get it even more smoother and then i sanded it again. then i got some spot/glazing putty and filled in the imperfections and then i went and put some adhesive promoter on the bumper and primered it and then sanded and primered it again and left it that way for a while. the thing is tho, the molding is flexible so it will kinda get a tad bit wavy after driving around at high speeds.....so i took small 90 degree metal brackets and put them on the bottom edge of my front bumper and had them supporting the molding. after that it was all good and if u were to scrape when going over a speed bumper or something if ur car is lowered......then all it would do was bend in a little and then like spring back to its position. it was cool but then i wanted to make a lip, not just a bumper extension. so i just made a lip, about the same size and sawed off the extension that i made and then put my lip on. go to home depot or something and look in an office section and they should have abs plastic strips and then do whatever. i just added fiberglass and made it thicker on the inside of my bumper to add sturdiness. i hope this helps

its illegal to have a back seat in a crx? What if u put in the JDM backseat?

vladlos

that's what i was talking about, its illegal to have the jdm back seat because there isnt enough head room in the back or something.

Why do you want to take out your backseats? I would love to have backseats, then I could drive my car to the remote locations I like with my wife and her friend instead of him driving his ford focus. He has had that car for 5 years and only has 20k miles on it, 36 yrs. old and drives like a newbie.

i'm taking out my back seat to make a custom enclosure for subs and i'm going to relocate my rear speakers. i need more room in the back anyway to get ready for the snowboarding season.

I tried snowboarding and I sucked (mostly bc I was scared to go too fast, it was all slush and ice) The first time I ski'id (however u spell it) I did great and only fell once bc someone hit me, but when i traded in the snowboard for ski's after failing with it I couldnt ski either (too slippery) so Im sticking to other stuff that doesnt involve cold as much.

I wanna take out my backseats and my interior but I always have people riding in my car with me. Of course it only takes like 2 mins to take em out and 2 to put em back in.

Vlad, you snowboard too?! Well, I guess that makes sense. I tried snowboarding once at Camelback in the Poconos years ago. I went down the slope once and fell a bunch. It wasn't so bad except for the freezing temperatures. I had an exercise induced asthma attack and needed inhaler but all the med center had was oxygen so I took it. They wanted to send me to the hospital but I was like F-that cuz I was on vacation with the folks and they would've killed me. But I got a full refund on my lift ticket which is supposedly rare. Anyway, I'll stick to trying to skateboard... besides it fits nicely in the CRX... LoL

yea keith, i snowboard. haha, believe it or not i've never been to camelback even tho its only a 50 min drive from my house. i know that their mountain is pretty big but i hear their terrain parks and service sucks. plus, i work at a local ski resort as a snowboard technician so its all good. anyway.....i took out the lower cushion of my back seat and left the top parts of the seat there and folded it down incase i might have to use it for some reason. i got this super thin plywood and cut it the size i need to take up the whole back to make everything flat and sturdy, then i carpeted everything and made this crazy set up with my subs where they sit their right under my hatch folding board thing facing into my car. their is like a half inch gap between the board and top of sub box so it looks sweet and clean. then i mounted my amp in front of my subs. result? no extra weight gain, better bass quality, more space in hatch, more space in back for the ladies and for snowboarding, and a cleaner more efficient look for the winter. hell yes!
