mysterious oil consumption

Heres the scoop guys, '01 Sierra ext.cab 4.8 w/ 26k miles using 1 qt at about 3k miles! just before I'm due to change the oil the "check eng oil light" comes on. No smoke,No leaks,Correct oil vis.and amt.,Always serviced at 3k-4k miles, Never overheated to the best of my knowledge (bought used at 15k miles). I just can't believe I have blow-by or valve seal issues at 26K! Ideas?

:shakehead take it back where you bought it frim see what they can do.hope this helps.I just bought a 1500 crew cab hope they fixed the problem....

The General states that no repair should be attempted umless the consumption problem is more than 1qt in less than 2k miles.
