Has anybody been able to work out how to connect something like an iPod to the new 5 Series? I have tried using a 'Griffin' FM transmitter, but the quality is relatively poor. A CD changer is fitted - wonder if I can use the connector?

Hi Oldvideotech:

Whenever your working on or dealing with the 2005-05 BMW five series, always remember what you are up against!!! The Genius Chris Bangle and his BMW design team with the idrive system that controls almost EVERYTHING on our Bimmer's! :banghead:

I tried to order a CD changer for mine, but I gave up and just went ahead and purchased the factory one that mounts in my glove box of my 04 530i, and you know it does sound great, and works well! (I should think it should for $800.00 more dollars of mine to the BMW USA group! LOL)

Now I do wish you the best in your audio sound quest with your E60, and be sure to let us know how it comes out!

Sincerely,

Presley348 :smokin:

I heard this morning that BMW have now launched an adaptor for the iPod to fit the E60!

The BMW part number is 65120153503 and in the UK the cost is £40. I am told it takes two hours to fit (by a BMW dealer). Will let you know how it goes.

I have been interested in the IPOD for my 04' 545 and still haven't had any results. I called BMWNA and they said it wasn't out yet. The dealership could give me no answer. What do you suggest?

Good news. I recently tried the iPOD adaptor made by MONSTER. The iCar adapter plugs into your iPod and into your cigarette lighter. I found that station 88.3 has worked the best. However, the sound isn't very loud, so you have to really turn up the volume. It's like $69 from the apple store.

I went onto the website, and looked into some of the things. Lots of things I want. I found myself very fearful trying things that are "aftermarket". Dealers like to void warranty when you start getting into the car. It's how I ended up buying all the options on my car....
