Kill: GTC vs 1st Gen DSM.

I should have known better.
After last weekend and having some fun in the GTC I can't seem to get it out of my system. You know what I mean, speed, and showing you have more of it than someone else. Anyhow, I decided to head back to State Street but this time I went later at night around 9:30 when people were just coming out to cruise on Saturday.
I ran into CivRacer95 on my way down the strip, he was busy playing with a Jetta. I would have played some more, but the car wasn't stopping very well. The brakes were in worse shape than I thought and I won't be able to drive the car again until I get the front ones replaced. Anyhow, I didn't get really any action until I was on my home, and rightfully so, I didn't really want to race anyone since I couldn't stop too well. My braking was getting worse the more I drove. Then came along one I couldn't refuse. I was coming to a red light and I get passed by a 1st gen Eclipse. He pulls into my lane, so I pull into the right one. He had wheels and tires and a nice sounding exhaust but other than that he looked bone stock. I was hoping it was a GS-T or a GSX so I could give the GTC a really good test. However, it was only a GS. At the light he kept inching up, but didn't seem like he wanted to race. When the light turned green he took of and chirped the tires. I didn't launch but as soon as I noticed he took off I floored it. Once I hit second the race was over. I had passed him and had to cut into his lane since someone pulled out in front of me. I then pulled back into my lane and he pulls up next to me wanting to take it from a roll. I downshift into third ready to give him another dose of boost when I see a police officer stopped at the upcoming intersection. He keeps trying to get me to bite but I just look over, smile, and nod my head. Finally he sees the cop and gives it up.
Damn, I would have loved to take him from a roll. I hadn’t even pushed the car really hard all night.
Well, I didn't want to mess with the brakes yet since I want to get a custom system made by Stoptech later on anyhow. Unfortunately I am going to have to get new rotors and pads up front next weekend. I think I might also get a new set of 17" wheels for the car as well as install some new equipment in the dash including my new boost gauge and possibly up the boost to 14PSI.
It is too bad I decided to get into this so late in the season. It is going to start getting cold pretty soon, and people won't really be cruising much anymore. Oh well, I still have to take it out every week and drive it.
So, the GTC project already has four kills, and I haven't done a damn thing to it performance wise since I got it. Not bad for $600 bucks.

Stupid Jetta. He had cut me off earlier that evening. Then those kids in the malibu thought they could race. But once I hit the hill going into provo that jetta tried to pass me, I kept it in third and left every one behind me. Well, good luck getting the GTC back together. I hope I can make a run with you next weekend. I know I'll get my balls handed back to me, but I just want to gauge my car and see what it can do. Late...

I'll do my best. Hopefully next week I'll meet up with Polygon, get me ass kicked, come back home with my tail between my legs, sit at my computer, and tell each of you how it happened. But who knows what will happen between that time. I'm sure there will be a few races until that time. There usually are. Sorry to hear that you put your Camaro down for the winter, but it's good that you did. Late....

Certainly a good kill, Polygon.
And I can do you one better for a cheap kill. Little brother bought a 1986 Dodge 600ES Turbo convertible for $450 about a month ago that needed brake lines. It's already slain a Del Sol, an RSX, and a local riced Focus.
By the way, you wouldn't happen to have some sound advice on where to get good 2.2L Turbo parts for the 600, would you? :naughty:

Withdrawals, tell me about it. I've been going through withdrawals for over a year now. It feels great to be out driving for pure fun again.

Man, not only was it cheaper, that is a far better sleeper than my car. As for parts, I know plenty of places:
eBay: (http://www.ebaymotors.com)
I know what you're thinking, but this is where I've found a lot of parts for my LeBaron project. However, I suggest never to buy remanufactured heads or blocks off eBay. They sometimes advertise them as being for the turbo models but they aren't.
Dodge Parts: (https://www.dodgeparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html)
This is a good place to find OEM parts, they aren't cheap, but they will be brand new factory replacement parts.
Car Part: (http://www.car-part.com/)
This site can let you search for parts that they might have at your local salvage yard.
Turbos Unleashed: (http://www.turbosunleashed.com/)
These guys specialize in custom parts for the FWD Mopars as well as aftermarket turbos and stock replacements. If you need a turbo this is where you should go. They also have some nice custom parts like fuel rails and custom headers.
Forward Motion: (http://www.forwardmotioninc.com/)
This is another company that specializes in the FWD Mopars. There are a lot of parts to be found here, there are also a lot of performance and aftermarket parts there.
FWD Performance: (http://www.fwdperformance.com/)
Pretty much like Forward Motion. They offer some better stuff most of the time though and they have better prices. I would go there first for performance parts.
The Turbo Dodge Forums: (http://www.turbododge.com/forums/index.php?)
I would suggest that your brother sign up there. Not only are there a LOAD of people that are knowledgeable and willing to help you with problems for free there are also a lot that are selling parts for pretty good prices. It is also a good place to sell parts, sell cars, or buy cars. There are also people that will do custom work for you like Steve Menegon that does custom head work, this guy is just awesome. This is a "must go to site" for anyone that owns a turbo FWD Mopar.
The Dodge Garage: (http://www.thedodgegarage.com)
Not really a parts place, more it is a resource for not only learning about these cars but working on them and making them faster. This is another "must go to site" for turbo FWD Mopar owners.
These are the best resources I've found for parts, help, and advice. They have been invaluable to me while planning out the GTC project.

Thanks a ton Polygon. We're already eyeing that Cal from Turbos Unleashed. Kind of a bummer when the rev limiter kicks in at somewhere above 85mph.
And you're right. It's a total sleeper and a lot of fun. Glad I talked my brother into it. He was about to buy a Nissan Pulsar with a leaky gas tank for $450. :disappoin

Sure, no problem!
That’s what I love about Turbo Mopars they are cheap, reliable, and fun.
I ended up getting new rotors and pads and replacing my boost gauge along with some other instrumentation. I also bought some 17" ADR Sokudo wheels. Next weekend I'll have to install the brakes and I’m really thinking of bleeding the boost to 14 PSI. Too bad I can't afford to put some rubber on those wheels yet.
Well, as long as the weather is nice I might have another kill story or two this Saturday.

Hey poly. Looks like you solved your little problem. Hope to get a run at you this weekend. I've decided that I need to lose a few hundred pounds this week. On my civic that is. I'm going back to stock wheels, and taking out my speakers this week. I've never bothered to. That'll atleast drop my by 120+lbs. I know for sure it will make a huge difference. Well, hope to see you this weekend. Late...
