engine noise "part 2"

Now.... i'm %99 sure my "rattling" sound is coming from the a/c compresser [via wooden dowel]. Will a uncharged a/c unit affect bearing wear? Since the clutch won't kick in, i wouldn't think it should matter.
Has anyone bi-passed the a/c unit with a shorter serpentine belt?

thanks for replies!

No. The actual pulley bearing is self contained. Independant of the compressor's internals. You can route a shorter belt on some of them, depends on the setup. If the ZX2 is offered without A/C (I don't know) then for sure you can do it. Otherwise, you would have to wrap a string around the used pulleys in the pattern you will be running the belt, and use the length to try to size a replacement.

ac was an option, but was usually a default. at www.zxtuner.com they sell a pully to void the A/C if you remove it

Thanks everyone for the help. It was the a/c pulley, i went to our local salvage yard and picked up a used one [$60]. Now i need to figure out a simple way to release the tension pulley.
