Master Tech Question???

Ok, since nobody helped me on the combustion question I went ahead and stripped the engine down to the block. I noticed a little bit of sludge, and alot of oil leaks coming from the base of the head where the gasket is. I immediately assumed that the head gasket was blown. Although, I think I ran into another problem. The top of cylinder one piston looks new, and had fresh oil pooling on it. Cylinder 2,3, and 4 are dry with burnt oil sludge melted to them. Does this mean that I may have a cracked block, or bad oil pump? The head itself seemed to be lightly lubircated, and in good condition. I don't seem to notice any water in the oil, but this looks bad. Any suggestion?

What did the spark plugs look like? Do you have any pictures?

2,3,4 are normal, 1 sounds like it could have a leaking head gasket, bad rings, or worn valve stem seals.
