I have 45,000 miles on my 1996 lumina. Car started to misfire, service engine light on, auto zone computer read out says multi cylinder misfire. Replaced battery, alternator, plugs, wires, had fuel injectors cleaned, new fuel filter, replaced 3 coil packs, cam shaft sensor. Still is misfiring. What else could it be? EGR? Ignition Module? At wits end here. Hope someone could help!!!

Something similar happened to me, it was the ignition module. Try that.

I'll second the module.

After changing cam shaft sensor and adding seafoam to the fuel, car quit misfiring, for the time being (crossing fingers). If that doesn't do it, we will try the ignition module ($90 part). It's been a peck away, peck away situation. We even took it to a mechanic, to no avail so far. Tomorrow morning when it is cold I will see if it will do it again. BF just told me he had the ignition module tested at autozone and it was fine (engine light was on at the time). Could this happen from bad gas? A friend of mine also had problems with her minivan idling rough after getting gas at the same gas station.

Could be, but I don't think the ECM can sense an actual "failure to ignite" of the intake mixture, rather just the absence of spark.

Man you jsut replaced alot of stuff that really didnt need to be replaced. Always be sure to test things before you go replacing parts left and right. You can have the coil packs and ignition module tested for free at autozone.
