I have been lookin all over and i havent been able to find out how to do this. Thanks in Advance

Hey Jeremy...My name is Jeremy too...anyway, you first need to put the key in the ignition and turn it to 'ON' but don't start it. With your foot on the brake and the emergency brake up, put the gear selector in '1'. On the front side of the shift knob, there is a little clip that you have to remove; remove that and take the gear slector off. After that, you can take the plastic trim pieces off from around the radio and the shift knob (It's all one piece). I'm not sure if you can just pry off the plastic trim at any point, or if there are certain clips that need to be pushed to release it from the dash.

Hello,
I had the same problem with my pioneer cd player. I had about 1 1/2 inches still sticking out.
You have two options:1) get a dash kits that is desingned for longer radios, but it doesn't look nice. 2) This is what I did to my 2004, I looked behind the factory radio and saw there is a piece if plactic where the factory radio attaches to. It is a support bracket to hold the back part of the factory radio. I bacisly cut out that piece with a dremel tool. Just use caution with cutting that you don't nick the climate control hoses or any other wires back there.
This gave me just enough room to slide the radio in flush.
Did you also get an antenna adapter? All GM vehicels use a smaller antenna.
I hope this was helpful,
Tom

just in case you didn't get it done yet. i just wanted to let you know that i also installed a pioneer deck into my 2000 alero.. and like the other guy said thereis a clip and as you have figure out it comes out great.. but like you said the problem was that it was to long.. what i did is i went and bought a intall kit and it fit like a glove .. it doesn't stick out anymore and it looks great.. and like the guy above just said.. you need to get the antenna adaptor.. i made the mistake of stryin to install it without one.. damn thing pissed me off had to drive up town with my deck hangin out lol. anyways. when it comes to car audio in an alero.. if you have any other questions.. you can ask me.. i have done my own install and it sounds great!

You know how u said u baught a install kit and it fits like a glove ? I have an install kit to hold the cd player in place but what im saying is even thought it fits good it is still sticking out about an inch or more and i need to figure out how to make it not stick out. I see what the one dude abouve you is saying about cutting that piece but it seems to risky to do cuz i dont want to actidentually brake or cut somethign that shouldnt be cut. So ill just see what happens maby if i keep asking around someone will know. Maby if i take it to the dealer or maby Best Buy they could help me with it. Because i dont get how it was to long for you and then u put the mounting kit and it fit just perfect. That doesn't make ne sence if the cd player was to long in the first place is what i am getting at and then u installed the mounting kit and then it fit fine and it wasnt to long. Thats the only part i dont get unless i am misunderstanding this.. Let me know
