Mustang won't stay running

I have a 1999 Mustang GT, bought it new and never had a problem with it. All of the sudden it will start and rapidly die. If I press the gas pedal after starting I can keep it running and it runs smooth. As soon as I let off the gas it pretty much dies right away. All ignition connections / vacuum lines look good. Not sure where to start.... any ideas? Thanks.

...yes
It sounds like a bad sensor, but I'm not sure I could help ya there cause I don't know what kind of loop ford uses. You'd have better luck finding a mustang loyal forum somewhere.

i know zip of fords, but in general:
check the throttle body for carbon build-up, check the IAC too. if dirty, spray with sensor-safe carb and choke cleaner(even if its EFI).
if you have a multimeter/voltmeter, check system voltage.
any check engine light/battery light?

I don't think the throttle body would be loaded with carbon? But faulty MAF or TPS could be a culprit

That makes sense...
Or maybe (just maybe) bad gas...
I've had a similar problem with a different car...but, damn my memory, I don't remember the problem/solution...

It sounds like you have a bad Idle Air Control valve. Fords were nortorious for having these go bad. It sounds like it is sticking closed.
