Is 87 octane gas with octane booster as good as 93?

Quick question for you car expers heh. Out of 93 gas in most gas stations down here in Florida and was wondering if 87 with octane booster is good enough, I hope it is heh. Thanks in advance for any help.

most car are supposed to run on 87 gas anyways. i know that some car run like crap with good gas. i strong beleive that is you use what they say to use (87) the car will last longer. as for the octain booster, alot of that has stuff thats no good for your car. it will mess up the injectors and so on. same as in alot of that stuff you use to clean out you fuel system, that does more bad then good for you. i would not use that, if you do, every now and then, not all the time. wait till you get 93 gas b4 you start adding that stuff

Im pretty sure that 87 with octane boost will not give you a rating of 93. Theres so little of the boost to add that it couldnt make up the difference with all the fuel you just pumped into the car at 87 octane.

Most of the octane boosters add around 5-15 points. when they say points they are meaning .1 octane more for each point. so 87 octane gas with 7 point octane booster would make it 87.7 octane. It is a waste of money.

Well the guy I bought the car off of said he had the timing advanced(or back, don't remember) and that it "needed" 93. I just took his word for it heh.
Anyway is there a big deal in mixing 87 and 93? Hopefully it wont do anything heh.

87 and 93 will give you are 90 grade. most people say cars run good on 90-90. no if you mix grades of gas it will not do anything

No its not a big deal mixing gas. If it pings running 87, step it up a grade and see if that helps. If not get the timing readjusted.

No way in hell can you get 93 octance from octane booster. Octane booster is measuyred by tenths to 1 point system. Meaning , .01 octance = 1/10th of a full octance point. So if you buy octane booster and it says 15 points then it usually means 1.5 octane.
So a bottle of 10 point octance is actually only 1 octane point. 87 + bottle of octane booster = 88 o2r.
Read the back before you buy that garbage , it's pointless. If you want high octane fill your car up with medium grade gas , go out to the airport fueling station and buy 1 gallon of 102 octane and mix it with the 9/10'2 full tank and that will level it out to about 94 octane rating. Don't do it with old crappy engines though , it will kill them. It's like sticking a shock rod to an old dog , sure he may move quick for a minute then he dies from a heart attack then you have to push the send button on the fax and sometimes it doesn't go through ...lol. Just kidding. But yeah , don't use any methods like that on old and tired engines.

I ran it in my Trans Am before but I personally think it runs best on 90 or 91.

lower octain gas burns slower which means the combustion of the air/fuel mixture is exerting force on the piston for longer periods of time, but the lower octain is more prone to detonation. So a general rule of thumb is to run the lowest octain you can without detonation. but with high compressions and inconsistant gas octains, not many performance engines anymore run on 87 anymore.

i kinda wish they still used leaded gas my dad said cars that were made two run leaded gas were less reliable but more powerful it seemed like, he also said up until a few years ago and mabey still u could go out by ashland and still get leaded gas

my buddy Cooper busted the end of a fishin pole in his gas tank.. dont ask me what the hell he was doin.. but like 3 weeks later his truck stalled n he sideswiped a telephone pole, it was hilarious

leaded gas didnt make more power, back when they made leaded gas, they used gross power ratings for engines, which means they just ran the engine like they do in magazine tests. around the same time they swiched to unleaded gas, they switched to net hp ratings, which was the engine, setup the same way it was in the car, with all the belt driven accesories and restrictive exhaust. so naturally a car with 350hp, suddenly dropped to 250hp with the advent of unleaded gas, even though the gas did nothing to harm hp output.
