Low Oil Level Light

I have a 99 GT 3.8 with 107000 miles and had to have the oil pan gasket replaced. I have noticed that my low oil level light will come on when I start it cold. It will not go off until I shut the engine and then restart. I noticed that the oil level on the dipstick is almost 1/2 inch over the fill line. I usually change my own oil and when I do the level is right on full. SO IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS LIGHT MAY COME ON IF I HAVE TOO MUCH OIL?!?! Otherwise it may be a sensor. Thnaks for your input.

That would be the first thing to do,is drain that extra oil out or take it back to the shop that did the work and have them do it right

Make them check the connector and it's very possible to damage the oil level sensor if it wasn't removed before the pan was dropped.

It will be awesome if the sensor make the ECM that smart. The oil level light will only come on when the sensor does not "feels" any oil. The sensor is faulty...

I bet the sensor was damaged. It looks really easy to replace. Hope they don't cost much...Thanks for your help.
